Glenglassaugh headlines Scottish Boat Festival

Highland distillery Glenglassaugh will be the headline sponsor of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival for the next two years.

The Scottish Traditional Boat Festival, held annually in Portsoy, celebrates its 31st anniversary in 2024.

Welcoming more than 12,000 visitors yearly, the nautical festival gathers heritage vessels for a weekend of live music and dance accompanied by Scottish food and drink.

Featured in 2023 as a maritime sponsor, the nearby Glenglassaugh distillery will have a more significant presence this year as it joins the festival as head sponsor and has committed to returning in 2025.

“Securing this sponsorship commitment from Glenglassaugh for the next two years is excellent news,” said David Urquhart, chairman of the festival. “Continuing this relationship with the team will allow us to proceed with our plans to enhance and diversify the festival programme.”

Last year, the sponsorship allowed the festival to exhibit the 120-year-old Fifie Sailing Herring Drifter, Reaper, from the Scottish Fisheries Museum in Fife.

The sponsorship is part of the reintroduction of the distillery’s single malt whisky range, which was launched with a new identity in 2023 and revamped in April 2024.

Earlier this year, Glenglassaugh released The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection, which features old and rare whiskies aged over 48 years.

The 2024 Scottish Traditional Boat Festival will be held from 22-23 June.
