RECORD ENTRIES FOR COWES CLASSICS WEEK

A record number of people have signed up to Cowes Classics Week sailing event.

Over 190 yachts will race off Cowes next week (July 5-9), testing their skills over a variety of courses and creating a spectacle for visitors.

Strict adhesion to the on-going COVID regulations has required some amendments to the social program but the organisers, the Royal London Yacht Club, are confident that all competitors and visitors will enjoy a safe and rewarding program of events.

New for 2021 is Cowes Classics Day on Tuesday July 6, during which a large collection of interesting classic cars will assemble on The Parade together with exhibits from the Classic Boat Museum.

On Trinity Landing, just off The Parade, Cowes will be Motor Gun Boat 81, built for war service in 1943 and recently fully restored complete with period gunnery! MGB 81 will be joined by a small selection of smaller classic power boats.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first man to sail single handed non-stop around the world, has entered his famous ketch “Suhaili” for the week’s racing and she will be moored on Trinity Landing when not racing.
