Plans for viewing platform at Christchurch Sailing Club

 Christchurch Sailing Club at Christchurch Quay have applied to BCP Council to alter their terrace and balcony to create a viewing platform.

In a design and access statement submitted with the plans, the sailing club said the scheme proposes a viewing area at the roof level, with a new external staircase access from the terrace on the first floor.

Existing and proposed balustrades are to be glazed to match the existing, and compliment the setting.

 "The new viewing platform will allow members of the sailing club to watch training and events on the river, enhancing safety on the water, and the member experience generally, whilst utilising the existing site and layout.

"To conclude, it is our opinion that the proposed alterations and new viewing platform work well within the site's constraints and the site context. The layout has been designed to sit comfortably within the site. The proposal will provide users of the club with a better view of the river and its surroundings, enhancing the members experience. The scheme poses no harm to the conservation area."
