Around 140 sailors and their families are to descend on Weymouth this weekend for a national sailing championship. The Squib National Championships will be coming to Weymouth between Sunday, June 25 and Friday, June 30.
Hosted by Weymouth Sailing Club, some 68 Squibs from all over the UK and Ireland will compete in the beautiful waters of Weymouth Bay.
The boats will set off from the harbour every morning from around 10.30am.
A spokesman said: "The river will be very busy for an hour or so, when the fleet of distinctive red-sailed boats start making their way to the race course.
"Weymouth Bay is a premier league sailing venue and we’re hoping for a fabulous festival of sailing.”
The Club and the National Squib Owners Association are extremely grateful for support from sponsors and in particular: We Are Weymouth, Weymouth’s Business Improvement District (BID); Weymouth Marina Boatfolk; both the Weymouth and Portland Harbour Authorities; WPNSA; the Weymouth Cider Company and many sailing industry sponsors.
