A fantastic maritime festival is set to take place in Medway this weekend and promises an action packed day full of family fun. The Festival of Chatham Reach will be held for the third year on Saturday (September 23) from 11am to 5pm.
Taking over Chatham’s Sun Pier, the day will capture a "family-friendly country fayre atmosphere", while celebrating the rich heritage of the River Medway and its historic vessels. Guests have plenty to look forward to at the one-day-only event including free tours of the Steam Tug Barking and the sailing barge Blue Mermaid, which can be booked on the day.
For those looking to really embrace all things maritime and actually get out on the water, there will be sailing trips aboard sailing barges Edith May and Repertor, along with history walking tours highlighting the river industries of the Intra area. Thrill seekers looking to get the most out of the festival will be able to do so thanks to Red2Red Ribs - known for exhilarating adventures - offering high-speed rib tours of the river.
