Hospital sponsors Catamaran Championships at Dee Sailing Club

Andrew Potter, Commodore at Dee Sailing Club, said: “We are delighted that Spire Healthcare were our primary sponsors this year. Their sponsorship has allowed us to arrange what has been a really fantastic event”.

The UKIDA Dart 18 Catamaran Championships at Dee Sailing Club in Thurstaston saw 45 of Britain’s best sailors take to the waters of the River Dee.

John Worthington, Vice Commodore at Dee Sailing Club, said: “It’s been a wonderful day of sailing with 45 boats taking part today. We are very proud of this great event”.

This is second time that the UKIDA Dart National Championships have been held at Dee Sailing Club being one of the most popular places on the circuit in terms of competitor needs and the social aspect following competition.

Jon Smith, Committee Member at Dee Sailing Club and Rescue Boat Driver, was on hand during the event to prioritise the safety of the sailors and their boats in the changing weathers.

Jon said: “This is a big event for us and will bring a lot of money into the club. We appreciate all the sponsorship we have had from various organisations. Our aim is to run a national event at Dee Sailing Club every few years. We are a fun club”.

Congratulations to David Lloyd and Jojo from Stokes Bay Sailing Club for ranking first at the event, closely followed by Mat Exton and Jakob from Royal Yorkshire Yacht Club, and Grant and Ellamay Piggott from Weston Siling Club.

A spokesperson for the hospital said: "Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Wirral are very proud to have sponsored this local event. It was a privilege to be a part of such an occasion and witness the hard work and dedication of all those involved."
