Dublin Bay Sailing Club Prepares for 2025 Spring Chicken Series Next Weekend

As previously reported, the Dun Laoghaire Harbour series will feature six races held on Sunday mornings from 2nd February to 9th March, with the first gun signalling the start at 10:10 hrs.

The competition will employ a progressive handicap on a time-to-time basis, ensuring all boats have a fair chance. The 2025 series is expected to attract a fleet close to the 50 boats seen last year, following the impressive turnout of 72 at the recent Turkey Shoot series. Defending champion Jambon, a J80, will aim to retain its title, while sportsboats filled out the remainder of the 2024 podium.

The event is open to cruisers, cruising boats, and one-designs, welcoming experienced racers and those new to the sport. Post-race festivities will be held at the National Yacht Club, featuring prize draws and food. With an entry fee of €60, participants will receive temporary membership to both DBSC and the NYC. Interested sailors can register online at dbsc.ie.

For those considering an entry, Rosemary Roy, Hon Sec, and Fintan Cairns are available for assistance. Sailing instructions will be provided on 2nd February and emailed to entrants in advance.

DBSC advises that the last date for entries is Wednesday, 29th January, and warns that handicaps of late entries will be adjusted accordingly!
