Byrne's 'Bon Exemple' Claims Victory in AIB DBSC Saturday Series Race

Colin Byrne's XP 33 Bon Exemple from the Royal Irish Yacht Club had a margin of over two and a half minutes on corrected time (2:23:52) to win in a strong turnout of 12 boats in IRC One for the fourth race of the AIB DBSC Saturday Series on Dublin Bay.

For the second Saturday, racing took place in plenty of sunshine, with a five-knot easterly breeze.

Byrne, who has just returned from the 1720 Europeans in Galway beat Brian Hall's Something Else (2:26:24) in second with Tony Fox's A35 Gringo third (2:32:13).

Paul O'Higgins' JPK 10.80 Rockabill VI, which did not compete in this morning's ISORA race to Holyhead, was the winner of a three-boat Cruisers Zero IRC race. Tim Kane's Extreme 37 was second, and Sean Lemass's First 40, Prima Forte, was third.

Although easterly winds of ten knots were registered on its course, racing for Cruisers Two was abandoned in the shifting conditions.

Wyn McCormack's Wynward was the ECHO winner in Cruisers Three from Gerry Costello's Pamafe. Third was Donal Heney's Ceol na Mara. Four competed

The Cruisers 5a (ECHO) race was abandoned, and in the conditions, only one of two races was completed on the one-design course.

Rowan Fogarty's Ventuno was the scratch winner in a seven-boat Beneteau 211 class, and Keith Poole produced the same results in a 15-boat Flying Fifteen class to be third overall after seven races sailed.
