Lochaber Yacht Club had the pleasure of hosting the Sailability Challenger Regatta on Saturday and Sunday this weekend. The Challenger is a 15' single-handed trimaran which is predominantly sailed and raced by disabled and less mobile sailors.
The weather had changed, after our weeks of sunshine, but it didn't stop the sailors getting excited about racing again on Loch Linnhe with its changeable weather, tide and challenging conditions.
The Race Officers managed to squeeze in five races on Saturday and two races on Sunday morning. Six boats took to the water and, although there were a few technical issues, the sailors competing had a few very close races before the top three were determined.
The Regatta finished in time for lunch on Sunday and the prize-giving took place before all the boats head away until next year.
Another great weekend for LYC supporting disabled sailors for another year. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all our fantastic volunteers who gave up their weekend, and if you feel you would like to get involved we'd love to hear from you.
