The Royal Irish Yacht Club expanded its fleet earlier this year with the addition of eight new Teras into its fleet to complement and existing fleet, bringing their overall fleet to 14!
However the Tera is not just for teaching and training, Ireland will be represented for the very first time at an international RS Tera competition this summer, when the 2022 World Championships take place in Weymouth, UK from 30th July to 5th August.
Flying the flag for Ireland are siblings Dara and Maeve, who sail in the UK North RS Tera circuit, having enjoyed year-round coaching and racing on the sea and inshore.
With over 120 junior sailors set to attend from all over the world, the event will be extra special for the competitors and their families, as the pandemic meant it could not take place for the previous two years.
Dara (13) and Maeve (10) currently live in Manchester, UK, and are excited to be taking their passion for sailing to Ireland, when they relocate after the World Championships to Crosshaven, Co. Cork, home of the Royal Cork Yacht Club.
With three years of Tera racing experience, Dara will sail in the Pro fleet and with her one year of experience, Maeve will sail in the Sport fleet.
The pair are being sponsored at the event by marketing communications company 18 Words (18-words.com), who are also providing a brand new RS Tera Sport sail as a prize for the event.
