Notts County Sailing Club annual regatta weekend at Hoveringham

The annual regatta at the Notts County Sailing Club was held at the weekend at their Hoveringham facility.

The event offered a mixture of serious racing with social and novice sailing.

More than 50 boats entered the competitions and over 100 social tickets were sold.

The weather was lovely for spectating with plenty of sunshine ensuring the crowds enjoyed the regatta. On the water though, there was little in the way of wind and the first race on Saturday started an hour late.

The racing is split into a Commodore’s Cup for the more experienced dinghy sailors and a Novice Cup for those newer to racing.

Chris Martin and John Tailby won both races and so were the overall winners of the Commodore’s Cup.

Hyden Moore won the junior prize in an Aero.

Sunday’s fast fleet saw James and Phillipa Logan’s perseverance pay off to come second in their RS400.

The slow fleet saw Ian Firth win a race, but it was Tim Rush’s constancy that paid off beating Stephanie Gunn to second place by two points in the slow fleet, to win this division.

The Novices saw Ted Antill win both races with James and Simon Ling in a Topaz second and Viv Weston and Adrian Jones third in their Scorpion overall after the Sundays race.
