The end of 2,100 mile fundraising sailing challenge for 80-year-old Islander almost in sight

An 80-year-old Islander who set off on a challenge to sail around UK to raise money and awareness for Parkinsons is due to return this coming weekend. The crew, which also includes Kit Noble (who has Parkinsons), ex-Olympian Andre Usborne (who is in his 70s), John Smith, Steve Burton and David’s grandson Sam, are due to arrive back in Yarmouth Harbour on Saturday 2nd July.

Raising money for Parkinsons research

The aim is to raise as much money and awareness for two charities doing their utmost to find a cure for a disease which affects over 145,000 people in the UK alone.

Between David and Kit’s JustGiving pages, they have already raised almost £15,000.

If you’d like to support David in this challenge, you can donate via the Just Giving Page, where David also explains his motivation behind the trip.

Also check out his Facebook page where you can see the progress of challenge being undertaken, with video updates and more.
