Starboard Card sponsors Lucy Hodges MBE for 2022 RS Venture Connect World Championships

 Starboard Card has announced the sponsorship of Lucy Hodges MBE and her team, who will be competing in the 2022 RS Venture Connect World Championships from 23rd to 27th November 2022.

Hodges, who was registered blind with Photophobia Nystagmus in 1997, is an award-winning world champion sailor, mentor and disability sports ambassador and is one of the UK’s most successful disabled sailors. She has been the Blind Match Racing World Champion three times and the World Blind Fleet Racing Champion twice.

Hodges and her sighted volunteer, Colin Midgley, will be joined by a second boat, which will be sailed by visually-impaired sailor, Chris Albert and his sighted volunteer, Jonny Cormack.

A spokesperson for Starboard Card said, “We are elated to be able to support Lucy, Colin, Chris and Jonny in their bid to win the world championships and wish them every success.”

The RS Venture Connect World Championships will be the first exclusively parasailing event to be held in Oman. After the recent removal of parasailing from the paralympics, the sport has seen a tumultuous period.

This is a momentous occasion for all those involved and a sign of brighter times for the sport, as the event is now at full capacity and cannot accept any further entrants.
