Tynemouth Sea Scout Group received a £3,000 donation from the Richard Henry Holmes Masonic Benevolent Fund and the Northumberland Mark Benevolent Fund.
The funding helped train four adult volunteers in canoeing and sailing and to purchase two personalised banners.
The group’s new banners first debuted at this year's Remberance Day parade in North Shields.
Don Charlton, chairman of Tynemouth Sea Scout Group, said: “I wish to place on record our appreciation to Northumberland Freemasons and Northumberland Mark Benevolent Fund for their most generous grants.”
The recently formed scout group consists of sixty members and 8 voluntary leaders across their beavers, cub scouts, and sea scouts divisions, with almost fifty children on the waiting list to join.
