Oulton Broad Water Sports Centre, which opened more than 30 years ago, is now run by a group of volunteers after the previous operator stepped away in 2021.
The purchase of the new dinghy was funded by the Lowestoft Lions Club.
Claire Grasby, Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training centre principal, said: “We are most grateful to the Lowestoft Lions for believing in us as an important local service.
"Sails are expensive and this donation will enable us to offer a different craft to our users alongside our other dinghies."
The centre, in Nicholas Everitt Park, offers approved courses and sessions using sailing dinghies, paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, powered craft and, unique to the area, wing surfing.
Team-building days and first aid courses are also available, all under the supervision of qualified staff and volunteers.
The centre also has a hiring service for their canoes, kayaks and paddle boards.
Graham Colam, centre manager and RYA chief instructor, said: "It is evident with our school parties, businesses and individuals how life-changing and confidence-building a session on the water in these beautiful surroundings can be, and how important this facility is to the local community and beyond."
