Around 15 cadets aged between 11 and 16 donned their wetsuits and took to sea and Marine Lake over four days last week.
Light winds and sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday were ideal to develop their understanding of Clevedon's large tides and how to minimise or make use of them.
The highlight of the week was a long sail to Ladye Baye for a picnic on the beach.
The cadets meet on Friday evenings from April to July and a couple of
evenings in September.
They are given the opportunity to learn to sail in the Marine Lake and then on the sea, improving confidence and skills as well as having fun.
Cadets start at 11 and follow the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Youth
Development Syllabus.
