Tenby Sailing Club news

Dinghy Racing: Dave Griffiths and Maurice Clarke did well at Hayling Island in the National Osprey Championships last week.

In the fleet of 49, CarpΓ© Diem finished in tenth position overall after eight races.

On September 3, volunteers from Tenby Sailing Club supported Ironman by providing a rescue boat and crew during the swim.

The race in Tenby on Tuesday September 5 was cancelled due to lack of wind, and Saturdays racing was postponed until Sunday. Even then racing was cut short as the wind fell away. Winner was Robin, 2nd Dan & Matt, 3rd Peter & Igor, 4th Govan.

On Sunday the regatta attracted 12 dinghies which were split into two fleets, the Tera fleet and a general handicap. There were two good races in the morning but after a lunch break the wind in the afternoon died completely and the remaining races were abandoned. Isabelle Nuttall was dominant in the Tera fleet winning both races and our Jem Barker and Matthew Shaw in their first event ended up third a club Feva.

On October 7 and 8 the Welsh Yachting Association will be running courses for Race Officers and for Mark Laying.

Cruiser Racing: The next race is on Saturday around Caldey Island, weather permitting. Following that, three more races on the 22nd, 23rd, and 26th, will conclude the season before the Annual Lift-out on October 2.
