Teifi Boating Club celebrates 60 years with family fun day

Teifi Boating Club is celebrating 60 years with a Fun Day from 12 noon on Saturday, August 24 at the Clubhouse in Gwbert.

Everyone is welcome to join in the fun and there will be activities for all the family.

The RNLI and HM Coastguard will be there with top tips on safety.

If you prefer dry land, there will be games, a duck race, BBQ, cake stall, raffle, coconut shy and bar.

The club exists today thanks to the huge efforts of a small group of people who got together in January 1964.

They had an idea to create a landing stage for boats at Patch and a clubhouse where people could gather.

After a huge effort from the founders and wider community, the clubhouse opened in October 1975.

Thanks to them, people have been enjoying coming together boating on and around the Teifi estuary for 60 years.

“We are still enjoying sailing dinghies and yachts, power boating for pleasure and fishing,” said the club’s Anna Nicholl.

“Today you can also see people on paddle boards and canoes or getting the adrenaline flowing on a wing foil.

“Come and join us to find out more about membership and training opportunities.”
