Ainslie's team progress in America's Cup bid

Ben Ainslie's Ineos Britannia team are through to the next round as they bid to become the first British crew to win the America's Cup.

They have qualified for the semi-finals of the Louis Vuitton Cup, with the eventual winners taking on holders Team New Zealand.

Britannia secured their spot with victories over the Swiss (Alinghi Red Bull Racing) and Italian (Luna Rossa) teams in Barcelona.

"It’s massive for the whole team to get two wins," said skipper Ainslie, a four-time Olympic sailing champion.

"Looking ahead to the next round I think we’ve got plenty of potential, it’s just all about getting the maximum out of the boat and sailing well."

The final round of the Challenger Selection Series takes place on Sunday, with the top four overall going through and the leading team choosing who they face in the semi-finals.

14-19 September: Louis Vuitton Cup semi-finals - first to win five races advance.

26 September to 7 October: Louis Vuitton Cup final - first to win seven races qualifies for the America's Cup match.

12-17 October: The 37th America's Cup - the Louis Vuitton Cup winner takes on holders Team New Zealand, with the first to seven race victories winning the trophy.
