The countdown is on for the 2025 Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta, which will take place from July 10 to 13. Entries are now open.
Next year's event promises to be more exciting than ever, featuring several innovative updates to enhance the experience for participants and spectators alike.
The inaugural Melges 15 European Championships will be held as part of the event, and as regular Afloat readers know, Scottish and Welsh big boats were among the first entries received, buoyed up by the recent launch of the Nations Cup that has VDLR as one of its founding events.
One of the highlights will be the Bay Race on Thursday, where a majority of keelboats will start from the same line, adding a new level of competition. Additionally, the regatta will introduce a performance division in the non-Spinnaker fleet and an introductory cruiser class, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
In a bid to attract more early sign-ups, the regatta team has announced an early bird incentive: all paid entries received by December 31, 2024, will be entered into a draw to win their registration fee back.
Furthermore, the regatta has appointed a visitor's coordinator, Kate Fogarty, who will assist participants with accommodation and travel arrangements in Dun Laoghaire. Whether you're looking for a luxurious four-star hotel, a full house, or a simple room, Kate has you covered, along with special discount codes for ferries. She can be reached for support at visitors@dlregatta.org or accom@dlregatta.org.
